Location and Area:

A federation of seven emirates, are all on the southern shores of the Arabian Gulf, apart from strip on the Gulf of Oman, outside the Strait of Hormuz, occupies a total area of 83,600 Sq. Kms in the east of the Arabian peninsula, sharing with the neighboring Sultanate of Oman the area now becoming known as the "Horn of Arabia". Bordered to the north by the Arabian Gulf, to the east by the Gulf of Oman and Sultanate of Oman, to the south by Sultanate of Oman and Saudi Arabia, and to the west by Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

Climate:

The climate in the summer months is hot and humid, with temperatures rising to as much as 45°C. In the winter months from October to April, however the climate is more temperate, falling during December and January to around 10°C. The bulk of the country's rainfall is between January and February, and averaging annul rainfall is about 100mm.

According to unofficial report of the population of UAE at the end of 2003 is about 4.041 million, 4/5 population, however, are expatriate workers, coming from the rest of the Arab world, and from the Indian subcontinent, the Far East, Europe and North America. The state religion is Islam, most of the UAE's citizen are Muslim. The practice by expatriate communities of other faiths like Christianity, however, is officially sanctioned.

Language:

Arabic is the official language, English is also widely spoken.

Administrative Divisions:

A federation of seven emirates formerly known as the Trucial States. Its constituent parts are Abu Dhabi, the largest, which has the bulk of the oil reserves and 67,000 Sq. Kms covers around 80 percent of the land area, Dubai, the second one and about 3900 Sq. Kms, is the commercial center; Sharjah is 2600 Sq. Kms, and four smaller emirates, in order of size, Ras al Khaimah, Fujairah, Umm al Qaiwain and Ajman. The main cities or towns of each emirate carry the same name, Capital is Abu Dhabi.

Brief History:

The people of UAE are Arab, descendants of the great tribal confederations that have dominated the peninsula since before the beginnings of written history. Since 16th century, the colonists such as Portugal, Netherlands, France have been invaded one after another. In 1820, British invaded the region of Persian gulf, The seven Emirates was forced to obligate The Treaty of permanent Truce. On 1st March 1971, British declared to terminate all the treaties among Emirates, and effected at the end of 1971. The United Arab Emirates was established on 2nd December 1971 by the six Emirates, those are Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Fujairah, Umm al Qaiwain and Ajman. Ras al Khaimah has joined on 11th February 1972.

Economy Overviews:

The economy of UAE mainly relies on petroleum and its products, its account for over 80% total income. There are about 10%, the third place, in petroleum reserve of the world. The fourth is in natural gas resources of the world. While the other economy sectors attach the most important to develop, rise up the rate of GDP on the non-petroleum sectors, such as food processing, leather, wood and its products, paper products, mineral products and metal product etc. On the other hand, the service providing also rapidly develops such as tourism, financial service, insurance and exhibition. Dhadi has become the center of trading and tourism in Middle East, there are about US $45 million, it account for 15% in non-petroleum profited income. Besides the traditional economy, Establishing The Free Zone on the developing of Information Technology, Electronic Business, and Multimedia in Dhadi push up IT sectors. In 2002, GDP is US $7 billion, about US $20 thousand per caput, 3.4% growth. The average income per people is top of the world, about US $16 thousand.
